Restarting Development

Hi everyone, Teo here. I have finally decided to restart the development of Manic Malware after doing the Shroom Jam 2024 over month ago. I had a nice break, playing quite a lot of games and focussed on university stuff. Now that I have a 4 week holiday I will attempt to focus on development of Manic Malware during my free time to which I will tackle a single problem on a daily basis. I have already set up a to do list on Trello, that way it will help me decide what I should focus on. I was debating to migrate to Love2D thinking this would be a small project but after some thought I have decided to stick to Unity mainly because I have a lot of ideas and it would be quicker to implement onto Unity as I have more experience with this engine. Unity would also be a good option as the project will be complex due to the thought of including challenging enemies with AI, which I will talk about in the future. Plus the animations will become more complex so doing it all on Unity will be easier. For pixel art and animations, I was considering purchasing Aseprite but then decided against it and would rather stick to Pixelorama as it already has all the tools that I need plus it's free. For music and sound production, I was using Bandlab for the game jam but will migrate to Cubase to make more quality sound tracks. I should also point out that I will be making this game as a solo developer, mainly because my friend Alex is focussing on other projects plus I have enough motivation to attempt to make this game a reality. I will attempt to proceed to make a demo and the deadline will be the 5th of July. The idea is to incorporate the core mechanics and overall foundation of the game and if enough people enjoy the game then I will continue the development to turn it to a full commercial release. I don't know if I should release the game on Steam or Itch.io, most likely Steam but I'm not focussing on the marketing just yet. I will make a very simple website for the game, more on that in the future and will make social media accounts that will show some design updates, again more on that in the future.
